What is Carbon Literacy?
At its core, Carbon Literacy is about gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to make everyday choices that positively impact the climate. It’s an understanding of how carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases influence climate change, and more importantly, what we can do about it.
This training is more than just theory; it’s about translating understanding into meaningful, real-world action.

- The Science Behind Climate Change:
- Grasp the fundamental concepts of climate science.
- Understand how human activities influence climate change
- Carbon Footprint Comprehension
- Learn what a Carbon Footprint is, and the difference between Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions

Training Breakdown:
- Pre-learning Online: Grasp the climate change basics at your convenience on our online platform (register here. It’s free!)
- Interactive Online Session: Dive deep with our trainers into practical, impactful strategies with our online, 3.5 hour long session (including a 30 minute break)
- Pledge Formation: Commit to personal and collective actions and gain official recognition as Carbon Literate.

Carbon Literacy Action Day
The annual International Carbon Literacy Action Day is the world’s largest climate education and action training event of its kind. From every corner of the globe, thousands of people of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities will unite to undergo their day’s worth of Carbon Literacy training, catalysing action on climate change and delivering positive change wherever they are.
The Action Day 2024 will coincide with COP29 – the pinnacle climate event of the year. So, while world leaders gather to discuss and negotiate on climate policy in Azerbaijan, Carbon Literacy learners will be on-the-ground learning, collaborating and becoming empowered to act and drive impactful, tangible change.
The Action Day is fully inclusive and open to all, and on November 14th we will witness thousands of people from all walks of life, sectors, genders, ages and nations all around the world, participate and complete their days’ worth of Carbon Literacy training.
