Carbon Literacy Training

Carbon Literacy Training provides participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to embed climate action in their personal and professional lives. SAIL’s Carbon Literacy Training is tailored to the cultural and creative sector, enabling all to reduce the carbon footprint of their creative activities.

We’ve been delivering the training to the sector since 2018, and have reached a significant milestone in having trained over 1000 people!

What is the format of Carbon Literacy Training?

Our training includes 3 parts:

Part 1: Online pre-learning element – This section of the training provides you with the background knowledge of the science of climate change. It is self-directed and completed online in your own time ahead of part 2. We expect this takes no longer than 2-3 hours.

Part 2: Online training session with our Carbon Literacy Trainers – This session expands upon the material from part 1 of the training with tangible, practical actions you can take to reduce your environmental impact. This is an interactive session, and we encourage questions and group discussion. Sessions last 3.5 hours inclusive of a 30-minute break, and will be held on Zoom. If you don’t already have zoom, you can download it for free here.

Part 3: Participant details forms – The final part of your training involves you developing both individual and group pledges in order to reduce your carbon footprint. This section should take no longer than 1 hour to complete.

The Carbon Literacy Project then independently verifies your pledges in order to certify you as Carbon Literate. They also require proof from us that our delegates have received a minimum of 7.5 hours training, SAIL has created our unique hybrid training plan to meet these requirements in the most cost-effective way to you.
