Circularity by Design: Part of The Bradford Way
Bradford’s cultural sector has achieved incredible things during Bradford 2025, and sustainability has been at the heart of that journey. But what comes next? How do we build on this momentum to create a resilient, connected, and sustainable future for our organisations and communities?
SAIL are running a series of 3 deep dive workshops to focus on some of the key issues and barriers faced by cultural organisations and freelancers when it comes to taking climate action and reducing your carbon footprint.
Circularity by Design
Many cultural organisations are still operating in a linear economy – taking finite resources, using once, and then disposing – and we see this across the sector, from single‑use scenic materials and vinyls to over‑specification of sets and event infrastructure, wasting valuable materials, increasing costs and carbon emissions.
Drawing on real case studies from the SAIL Resource Hub and the Bradford cultural sector, this workshop will help organisations understand how waste is typically “baked in” at design stage, and how early planning decisions can radically improve circularity outcomes, reduce carbon, and save cost.
