The Bradford Way

Posted Case study

SAIL are proud to be working with Bradford Council and partners on The Bradford Way, a major new programme to strengthen Bradford’s creative and cultural industries through training, investment, and collaboration.

As the sustainability partner, SAIL is offering free training and tailored one-to-one support to help artists, freelancers, community groups and cultural organisations embed sustainability into everyday practice. Whether you’re a large institution or an independent creative, there are opportunities to get involved.

This programme is open to anyone based in, or making work in the Bradford district.

Training sessions

Our free, 4 hour training session training session will cover:

  • The climate crisis and what it means for the cultural sector
  • Understanding Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in practical terms
  • How to reduce impact across energy, travel, materials and waste
  • Aligning your work with funder expectations and local net zero targets
  • Real examples of low-carbon approaches from Bradford and beyond
  • How to access follow-up one-to-one support to co-create your own sustainability action plan

Additionally, there will be a free lunch provided!

Time: Thursday 9th October 2025, 10:00 – 2:30pm
Location: Bradford Arts Centre (formerly Kala Sangam), Bank House, 41 Bank St, Bradford BD1 1RD.

One to One support

Alongside training, you can book a free two-hour session with the SAIL team. These sessions are tailored to your needs and are built around our Sustainability Audit, which you’ll complete in advance.

In the session we will:

  • Understand your unique context, mission, and stakeholders
  • Work through your audit to highlight strengths and gaps
  • Discuss longer-term strategy and ambitions
  • Begin shaping a practical action plan with clear, achievable next steps

Sessions can take place online, at the SAIL Resource Hub, or at your premises (within 2 miles of Bradford city centre, or further if accessible by public transport)
